A glimpse behind the scenes of Tales of Arise

Bandai Namco Studios talks about the ideas behind combat and character design.

In this short but yummy clip, project director Hirokazu Kagawa talks about the new features in Tales of Arise combat system, Bandai Namco’s next major Japanese role-playing game. The implementations in this post in the traditional role-playing game series are meant to make battles more interesting and spectacular for players. As you can read in our preview Tales of Arise we just noticed that the battles feel direct and just spectacular, with nice effects and animations. But Kagawa promises to polish the system to the last!

We also get a few words from art director Minoru Iwamoto who recounts how they want to convey emotions through the characters’ facial expressions. And how their personality should shine through with the help of motion capture and hopefully reach out to players and create bonds for them.

Tales of Arise will be released on September 10 on Playstation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X / S as well as PC. For advance bookings, see Bandai Namco Store.
