Battlefield 2042 is one of the most anticipated games of this end of the year and it lets itself discover little its different multiplayer experiences. This time, it’s a whole new mode that is revealed to us. Here is what you need to know.
After a first presentation of Battlefield 2042 and more specifically from his “All out Warfare” experience where Breakthrough and Conquered modes were shown, the developers at Ripple Effect Studios, who are helping DICE, have unveiled a new experience. This is called soberly: Battlefield Portal.
Change the rules of the game!
What is the Battlefield Portal? A new way to create your own gaming experience, much more personalized. It is the famous Battlefield Hub that has been causing so much ink to flow for weeks. A “love letter” to fans of the series according to the developers.
How is this experience structured?
This Battlefield Portal can be used from anywhere. Do you have a sudden piphanie on the bus? All you have to do is connect to the site (which will be communicated after leaving Battlefield 2042) to define the experience you want to bring to life.
Whether on your console, PC or via your phone or tablet, it will be possible to configure your operations as you see fit. The developers have presented an interface allowing to configure everything.
First of all, the choice of Battlefield. You are free to do a Battlefield 1942 versus Battlefield 2042 and thus define the weapons, vehicles, game modes and maps. The maps draw from the tank of Battlefield 1942 BF 3, Bad Company 2 and BF 2042.
You can therefore make improbable versus. German soldiers of World War II against modern soldiers or else shutter operators come. The developers of Ripple Effect Studios want to offer a play area where everything is configurable.
The game modes are. It is possible to choose a normal conquest up to 128 players on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series against 64 on PS4 & Xbox One or a “Small” 58 player conquest or go in a more custom mode.
All the maps of the game are available. 7 in total + 6 remastered maps of which here is the list:
- Battle of the Bulge (Battlefield 1942)
- El Alamein (Battlefield 1942)
- Val Paraiso (Bad Company 2)
- Arica Harbor (Bad Company 2)
- Caspian Border (Battlefield 3)
- Noshahr Canals (Battlefield 3)
The different levels have been adapted to accommodate up to 128 players. This brings the total of maps to 13 for the game’s release. Experiences will already be created by the developers to get a feel for the vast playing field on offer.
Everything is flexible
In addition to the maps, it is possible to choose the weapons available. You can choose a faction that only has defibrillators and the one in front of the knives. There is no limit. What about the sniper? It’s possible. Only the handgun? Of course. What a shotgun? Why not. It is even possible to configure the damage. For example, increase the impact to the head for snipers or increase damage to the chest for the shotgun. If you want to put all the weapons except some, that is also doable. This also applies to grenades, mines and the like.
The same settings apply for vehicles. What tanks on the map? What helicopters? No vehicle? Or more wacky like WWII planes with fighter planes? Yes, and it can turn out to be stinging. Race in Humvees against a Willy Jeep? If you sing. In addition to modes and vehicles, you can have fun with game options such as the number of players per team or the proportion of these players. A team of 64 versus 64 or 127 players versus 1. Either play friendly fire or not aim assist. The weather can be activated in order to have or not events such as tornadoes, for example.
Whether it’s game modes, factions, weapons, vehicles, or the tiniest game options, it’s all adjustable. The developers haven’t placed too many limits on the players. The latter will be able to let their imagination run free, with the card game.
It will be possible to share your creations to make the greatest number of players play or, on the contrary, to privatize them and share the password to access them only with those close to them. you to see, therefore. Obviously, this will be a good point for the competition or the E-sport scene to create tournaments there by having parameters allowing to exclude too powerful weapons or vehicles.
What about the next few weeks?
At the beginning of August, players identified as series veterans will be able to participate in the “technical playtest” to try out the game and thus give their feedback. Finally, before the launch, an open Bta will be deployed to get an idea of the potential of Battlefield 2042. And of course, those who have pre-ordered it will be able to play it a little in advance.
It remains now to discover the Hazard Zone mode grouping together small squads for a shorter experience.
A Battlepass will be presented in the Call of Duty manner. Free and paid content can be unblocked. For the first year, 4 new specialists will be offered through four Battlepass.
