Next post in Star Warsthe story from Electronic Arts is now uncovered: Star Wars: Squadrons. So it is a space shooter game in the first-person perspective.
Squadrons take place during the aftermath of the Battle of Endor, that is, after the film Jedin’s return. The battle is between the New Republic and the remnants of the Space Empire. In the story we follow five elite pilots from each side. On the player front, collaboration and strategy between these characters will be the key to success.
If the trailer above is something to go for, in addition to the mandatory X-wings and TIE fights, we also learn to jump in A and Y wings, TIE fighters and bombers, as well as at least one seemingly new ship for each side ( see the gallery below).
Star Wars: Squadrons has so far been announced for PC and PlayStation 4 with compatible multiplayer between the platforms. It should also be playable entirely in VR (but only confirmed on PC; see system requirements) here). We do not have a release date yet, but a full reveal with gameplay will come on Thursday, June 18 at 13 Swedish time. For more information, check out EA’s website for the game.
In the signed book look Star Wars: Squadrons out as a welcome surprise. It’s been 17 years since the last (last?) Game in writing Rogue Squadronseries. Although EA has a lot to prove both in terms of handling Star Warslicense and in comparison with the former masters of Factor 5 the trailer is not a shame.
We have hardly been drip-fed with good space-shooting games for several years now (ever Space and Star Link are probably the foremost in memory), so it’s time for something new to come. And why not in a joke from one of our dearest licenses?
