Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales was going to be Disney’s hottest movie this summer, but is now being held by hackers who are demanding money in exchange for giving the movie back! Ill skewer yer gizzard, ye salty sea bass... Avast!
Deadline reported that the pirates are plundering and demanding for the money to be paid in bitcoin or they will release Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales to the entire internet. Bob Iger, Walt Disney’s Executive Officer, revealed the threat on Monday in a meeting with ABC staff. The movie was supposed to release on May 26th. Hector Monsegur, an online security expert, explained to Deadline that big studios like Disney have security measures, but there is no assurance that parties involved with the movie's production would have the same amount of online protection. They are now working closely with the FBI to get the issue solved.
A few weeks ago, Orange is the New Black was also stolen by hackers, who demanded a payout from Netflix unless they wanted the series to be released on Torrent sites. The threat received by Disney is very similar to this one. These dirty pirates are stealing all of the best shows and taking them for ransom! With higher security measures, the problem will eventually be solved.
