The popular Witcher Saga is set to for the TV treatment as Oscar nominated CG visual effects studio Platige Image will bring the series to life.
Platige Image, a Polish production and visual effects house, are no strangers to the franchise having already directed some cut scenes for the video game adaptation. Executive producers Baginski and Jarek Sawko made it clear in a statement that the meaning and core of the books will not be lost in the adaptation.
They said: "There is a moral and intellectual depth in these books which goes beyond genre.’
“It is a story about today and today’s challenges, hidden under a fantasy cover. It is a story about us, about the monster and the hero inside all of our hearts.”

The original series of novels was written by Polish novelist Andrzej Sapkowski, who will serve as a creative director on the project.
He said: “I’m thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories, staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing,’
“I’m excited about our efforts together, as well as the team assembled to shepherd these characters to life.”
Sapkowski’s introduction will make for an interesting take on the franchise as the author had little to do with the game adaptation after receiving a one off royalty payment for the usage of his work. Sean Daniel and Jason Brown, who viewers may recognise from The Expanse, Ben-Hur and Mummy franchise, will also join as executive producers.
They said: “The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world.’
“The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling.”
At the time of writing no release date, casting, or choice of director has been revealed. For more information on the Witcher be sure to check back with Game Guiders.
