Have you ever been at the movie theatre with someone who has read the book the movie is based on? They complain that this little tiny detail is wrong, and how that event happened 1.5 seconds earlier in the book than it did in the movie. They even know all the characters in the movie significantly better than the movie could ever tell us. But here’s the thing, did you ever want to be that know it all? Do you ever want to be the one that knows all the secrets, all the innuendos, all the character back stories? Luckily, with all of the recent success comic book movies have been achieving, the chance to finally be that know it all is easier than it ever has been before.
The most recent entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2 was a huge success. Much in the same vein as hits like the Avengers and Captain America: Civil War, Guardians has focused on the relationships between its main characters; often with its own hilarious results. With this laser focus on character relationships and development it’s hard not to fall in love with the main crew and want to learn more about them. Thankfully, with a huge catalog of Comic Books based on the cosmic heroes there is plenty of material to fiend on. And, there is even more on the horizon for one of the more mysterious and captivating members of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
In an interview posted on Marvel’s website with Gerry Duggan, the most recent writer for the All-New Guardians of the Galaxy, we learn that we will be getting a brand new issue focusing on the beautiful, deadly, and green assassin known as Gamora. Gamora was always one of the more intriguing members of the Guardians and it’s nice to see that she will be getting a focused look into her character.
As most movie fans know, Gamora was raised by the death obsessed Thanos, but after escaping his grasp she vows to eventually return and kill him. And this mostly rings true in the comics as well. However with a surprising twist at the end of author Brian Michael Bendis’ run in the comics, Gamora transcends vengeance and decide not to take the life of Mad Titan Thanos. And the upcoming issue spotlighting Gamora will focus on how that affects her.
Duggan says at one point in the interview
“But that doesn’t mean that Gamora has found peace. In fact, she’s suffering from hoping to have found peace and not found it. And this happens because she turned down the opportunity to kill Thanos on Earth.”

It sounds like the comic is going in an interesting path and that path is not one I will want to pass up. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe being so successful it seems like we sometimes forget the great stories and creativity the movies are based on and that often, those stories are still being told today. So if you ever wanted a chance to become that annoying know-it-all at the movies, be sure catch All-New Guardians of the Galaxy #3 when it releases on June 7.
