IOS 15? Bah! Now iOS 4 is back – as an app

Those who thought it was better before now have the opportunity to go back in time over ten years for their Iphone by installing Old OS, which recreates iOS 4 in the form of an Iphone app. Something that was first noticed by The Verge.

The app must contain lots of fully functional apps (but not the old Youtube app and Messages) that have been rebuilt in SwiftUI. The project is also completely in Open source code. Behind the development is 18-year-old “Zane” who was about 7 years old when iOS 4 was released on June 21, 2010.

The mobile operating system was originally used for Iphone, Iphone 3g, Iphone 3gs, Iphone 4, second, third and fourth generation of Ipod Touch as well as generation one of Ipad, Ipad 2 and the second generation of Apple TV.

The operating system introduced folders on the home screen, provided support for their own mobile backgrounds, and allowed users to run apps such as Internet calls, location, and audio playback in the background. IOS 4 also introduced Ibooks on Iphone as well as Gamecenter and the video calling app Facetime.

Old OS is available via the beta app service Apple Testflight.
