As a little surprise about this day updated Marvel’s Avengers to 1.3.3 and with that we got a mixed bag of updates. The highlights are the new mission type Tachyon Rifts which comes with special features and will weigh into the game’s continued story (but not at present), and increased rewards in Mega Hives. In addition, the patch contains several adjustments and bug fixes.
Tachyon Rifts and SHIELD Substation Zero Outpost
Tachyon Rifts is a new type of mission for heroes at power level 140+. The task is to investigate distortions in time and space. The storms in the mission slowly damage the heroes but in return increase their heroic qualities. By stepping into time distortions, players can extend the time inside a Tachyon Rift. This type of mission is currently the only one that contains Cosmic equipment. The mission is only available once a day and rotates.
SHIELD Substation Zero Outpost is a new base established by Maria Hill and serves as a starting point in the investigation of Tachyon Rifts. This is also where the game’s continued stories are initiated. For example, we know that the next story update with Kate Bishop will begin in Substation Zero. However, Crystal Dynamics has said that the next story is a bit late, so at present there is not much to pick up here.
With 1.3.3, Crystal Dynamics has improved the rewards in Mega Hives to guarantee two exotic items and more upgrade modules. This is very good news as Mega Hives was previously very restrictive with the rewards. However, the activity can only be done once a week and is currently one of two playoff activities. In addition, exotic objects have better stats now and drops to a relevant power level.
In addition to this, several adjustments and improvements have been made to various types of cosmetic rewards, for example, the fabrication machine has been repaired and some of Iron Man’s and Hulk’s costumes have been redistributed.
