New exciting rumors about the vr headset for PS5
Upload vr writes that they have received new information about Sony’s upcoming vr headsets for Playstation 5 from several different sources.
The upcoming vr headset is said to have a significantly higher resolution than its predecessor of as much as 4000 x 2040 pixels, or 2000 x 2040 per eye, an adjustment disc for lens separation and new gaze tracking that makes “feveated rendering” possible. The latter is a rendering technique that uses integrated eye tracking to slow down the rendering work and thereby greatly improve the image quality even for the outer part of the field of view.
The headset is also said to have an engine in it that developers should be able to use to give wearers direct haptic feedback. The headset should also be connected to the console via usb-c.
So far, there is no new information on either price or release date. Sony has previously said that they will not release their new vr headset until after 2021.
Playstation 5 gets dedicated vr headset
Sony is working on a new virtual reality headset for its latest console Playstation 5.
“We are now taking what we have learned since we released Playstation VR to Playstation 4 to develop a next-gen VR system that improves everything from resolution to field of view, tracking and control,” said Sony Playstation CEO Hideaki Nishino in a blog posts from Sony.
The upcoming headset will also only use a single cord to make it easier to use. Sony will also work on a new vr control that will offer better ergonomics and use some of the features in their new Playstation 5 control Dualsense.
According to Sony, the vr headset will not be released this year but sometime in the future. However, the company will soon start sending out the first development kits.
Sony’s first vr headset, Playstation VR, was released for Playstation 4 in 2016.
