Now it is clear that Polestar will premiere its first SUV, the Polestar 3, at a launch event in Copenhagen, Denmark on October 12, 2022.
The car will be based on a new all-electric technology platform developed by and shared with Volvo Cars. The platform will contain high-tech components such as central computing power from Nvidia, various safety systems from Volvo Cars and leading industry suppliers such as Zenseact, Luminar and Smart Eye.
At the launch of the Polestar 3, all versions will have a dual-motor drivetrain that prioritizes rear drive and electric “torque vectoring” via a dual clutch system on the rear electric motor. Also standard are adaptive dual-chamber air suspension and active dampers.
“The fact that it can transform in less than an instant from a comfortable car with high comfort to a resilient performance car is the ability that makes the Polestar 3 special as an electric performance SUV. It also benefits from a low center of gravity and wide track width that provides good stability and a lot of driving pleasure for the driver, says Polestar’s CEO, Thomas Ingenlath, in a press release.
The live broadcast of the launch event will be available to watch here. It starts at 19:00 on October 12.
