Review: OlliOlli World - SENSES 1

Like most others, I would think, I own a skateboard – but lately I have only used it to make rides on film recordings. I was never very good at skateboarding, but I still have some fun memories. Something I have not been so interested in is skateboarding. There are a plethora of these. But, then I watched the trailer OlliOlli World I was very eager to try a slightly different skateboard game. It was still a good while ago OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood premiered and I was curious about what could be new this time.

OlliOlli World really does not take himself so seriously. The graphics are imaginative and the frame story is full of humor and is really funny. The game is a side-scroller, so you go from left to right. In your arsenal you have a plethora of button combinations and movements to learn in order to master the courses. There are clean and simple tutorials for each new movement and you get to train and test these, before you embark on more difficult courses.

OlliOlli World have fairly simple controls, but they are a bit awkward and I personally have a hard time mastering them at first. Because you do not jump with a button, but you use the joystick that you hold either up, down, right or left to perform various tricks. You release the joystick to perform the trick and it is not quite easy to be fast then. When it started to get harder, I had a very hard time managing to perform two trick jumps in a row precisely because the control was designed in such a way. Had probably rather seen that the joystick selects and the button performs. That way you could move faster.

Something more fun is that you can play online and challenge other players and you can design your avatar exactly the way you want it, so you can really have a unique experience.

Once you get used to the controls, so be it OlliOlli World insanely fun and addictive. The only-once-to-factor is twisted to 11, once you’re started it’s a lie to give up the game! So a warm recommendation to OlliOlli World – and welcome to Radlandia!
