Experienced PowerA releases a new hand controller: Enhanced Wired controller. This is the product for you who want an affordable, ergonomically comfortable control with absolutely zero input delay.
Then you were here again, at the test rig. and this time I’ve been entrusted with testing a brand new product, PowerA’s latest Xbox One controllers for Xbox One and Series X / S, officially licensed by Microsoft. The packaging is stylish, without a lot of smudges, which means that the control immediately comes into focus when I picked it up. In addition, the packaging has a “make shift” door, which you can fold away to see the visually fantastic control through the transparent plastic behind. I have had the opportunity to test the editions Metallic Red Camo and Metallic Ice.
The first thing you skeptics are probably thinking now is “Who buys a wired controller 2021 ?!” And that question is entirely justified to ask in this context. But the fact is that this control is absolutely fantastic and the wired connection has an ace up its sleeve. The hand control itself is comfortable in the hands, there are two programmable buttons on the back that are easily accessible, volume control for headsets with 3.5 mm cord so that you can easily raise or lower directly on the control – ingenious! This is a solid check, with the feeling that you are a professional e-sportsman, and you know what… it is not very expensive either (35 dollars via PowerA’s website, which in Sweden with taxes should be 350-399 SEK).
I – who played a lot online in my days (and still appreciate it on a regular basis) – think that this may be one of the absolute best hand controls I have tested. If you play a lot of FPS games, the two programmable buttons are perfect for changing weapons faster, reloading or performing skill checks. But wait, we have not come to the best yet! Because this is a the wire base control, you get the advantage that you avoid all the delays that wireless connection provides – absolutely no “input delay” in short. In practice, this means that when you press a button, you have no delay from the time you press until the console / game responds, it happens instantly. When I play online, at least I feel that it is a pretty vital part of the gaming experience itself and the chances to row home wins.
PowerA Enhanced Wired Controller I think will make a huge difference when it comes to my online gaming in the future. The only thing I could come to the conclusion that I was not very happy about was that the LT & RT trigger buttons feel a bit “plastic” and do not give the same resistance as the original control – but there is nothing that interferes in such a way that it destroys the gaming experience.
Consequently, I would like to warmly recommend this control to the gamers who want something nice, affordable and very sharp for Xbox gaming.
Footnote: Enhanced Wired Controller will be sold in about 20 different colors via PowerAs website. The date for the start of sales in Sweden and the exact Swedish price have not been fully determined at this test publication.
