Series reboot announces six-month postponement

A few well-established rules frame the small world of video games: for lack of new ideas, the reboot of a license makes it possible to continue to exist. But for some time, another issue of Covid-19 has imposed a regulatory postponement on many studios. Will Saints Row tick both boxes?

Publishers who still risk announcing a release date for one or the other of their games know that they are now likely to join the long list of postponements that regularly make the news in the industry, and have since more than a year. Officialized on the occasion of Gamescom 2021, the reboot of the Saints Row series hoped to win the hearts of players tired of the indefatigable Grand Theft Auto V from February 25, 2022. You had seen it coming: it will not be. unfortunately nothing.

Hot town, summer in the city

This morning, Creative Director Jim Boone took up his pen to announce the postponement of Saints Row to next summer:

Saints Row will not be released on February 25, 2022 as originally announced, but on August 23, 2022.

Our priority is to create the best Saints Row game to date, and if we had stuck to the original date, it wouldn’t live up to the expectations we set for ourselves and you deserve. The team needs more time to honor our vision: we are fine-tuning the game, and there will be few changes in the final version of Saints Row.

In all fairness, we underestimated the impact COVID would have on our schedule, even though everyone has adapted to working from home very quickly while remaining incredibly productive.

However, due to the size and scale of the new Saints Row, it has become evident that our teams need more time to refine their work.

Rest assured, there won’t be any changes when it comes to the story or the characters, or anything that we have lovingly imagined over the past few years, and already shared with you.

Over the past two years, all parts of the entertainment industry have been affected and / or impacted in one way or another. As gamers, we know what it means to postpone a game you’ve been looking forward to – it’s frustrating and it makes you feel disappointed. But we also know that when you finally have Saints Row in your hands, the wait will have been worth it. Getting it right is our top priority.

Stay weird,
Jim

So here you are set: to find the already criticized band of new characters signed Volition, it will be necessary to wait for the beautiful days. The Saints Row reboot is now expected on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S for August 23, 2022.
