Slut-dirty on Onlyfans: The giant service bans pornographic content

The video site Onlyfans has over 120 million subscribers, most of whom are there for porn. On the site, anyone can create an account and share photos and videos to subscribers. Those who follow a certain creator can also send “tips”, and creators can chat with and share content individually with subscribers who give a lot of tips.

This has led to the site being full of everything from mild erotica to rough porn, but now it’s over with porn. From the first of October 1, only certain nudity that follows new, updated rules will be allowed.

Bloomberg was the first to report the news, however BBC News has a more in-depth report and writes that Onlyfans suddenly turned around after the BBC presented evidence that the site’s policy was to see between the fingers with illegal content.

The BBC has seen internal documents showing that moderators at Onlyfans were instructed to give creators three chances even though the banned content they shared was purely illegal, and also reports a widespread problem with minors using the site both as subscribers and creators.

Among other things, moderators are said to have had difficulty with accounts in languages ‚Äč‚Äčother than English, which the BBC tested by creating two accounts in German and French where they explicitly described themselves as teenagers in the profile. The accounts had not been stopped after a week.

As early as 2019, the British Ministry of Culture, Media and Sports will have received a warning from an American anti-trafficking organization about content with suspected abuses of Onlyfans.

Onlyfan’s official line is that the porn stop has been added following demands from payment intermediaries and banks.
