Spotify beta tests new Carplay interface – MacWorld
In November, Spotify released a major update to its Apple Watch app that finally makes it possible to stream music directly to the watch if you do not have an iPhone with you. Now the company is moving forward with the next iOS venture: Carplay.
Spotify has long supported Apple’s car connectivity system, but the interface and features have lagged behind Apple Music. In a new beta version, it has received a major upgrade and users with access to the beta report on Twitter that it is a big improvement, writes 9 to 5 Mac.
So the latest Spotify iOS Beta got a great big CarPlay UI update !! This is so much better and brings it in line with Apple Music. Can even see the queue of upcoming songs and tap the artist name on the Now Playing screen to go to that artist. Yay! (@MacRumors @ 9to5mac) pic.twitter.com/MAI7SWHDlv

Among other things, Spotify via Carplay gets a list of upcoming songs, including a shortcut to show the gender. As before, there are four tabs: Home, most recently played, browse and library.
Another in-demand feature that Spotify has still not said anything about is full support for Homepod and Homepod Mini, something Apple began allowing last fall.
