Starlink ready for official launch this year

Starlink

The space network Starlink has been under development for a while now and they seem to feel ready for an official launch in a few months.

Starlink is a space network that Elon Musk is behind and is something that I definitely think can be something big, several tests have already been done on Starlink which impresses with its fast internet connection already then and it will be better according to Elon Musk himself.

Starlink is currently in beta stages and this in 11 different countries, what makes Starlink can not be launched officially yet is that many countries require a permit for this which is not always so easy to get.

Today, Starlink will have over 1,800 satellites in space, a number that will increase significantly, the goal Starlink has is to have up to 12,000 satellites and this is what is required to be able to offer internet connection globally. The goal they now have is to launch Starlink officially in September and this may be possible if they only get their licenses approved.

If you choose to join Starlink now, join beta test and this costs 99 dollars a month and for that price also includes a receiver and a satellite disk required, Starlink will then promise speeds between 50 to 150 Mbps with a latency of 20 to 40 ms.

However, there is still a lot that can be done about it, among other things, both the receiver and the satellite dish must be outdoors, but if it is too hot (over 40 degrees Celsius) this can cause the receiver to overheat and in turn be turned off. We can only hope that the Starlink team works on solutions to such problems, but I can imagine in a few years Starlink can become really interesting, especially on the go.
