The Skywalker saga
Do not miss: Here, the stuff is all Star Wars fans must have!
The first movie in the Star Wars series took the world by storm and won six Oscars. Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away, there was a war between the Rebels and the Space Empire. Here we get to follow Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Han Solo who together with the Rebels try to defeat the Space Empire and their evil masters Grand Moff Tarkin and Darth Vader.
Episode V: The Space Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Three years have passed since Episode IV took place. This time, Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacka and Luke are on the run from the Space Empire when Obi-Wan Kenobi’s spirit tells Luke to look for the Jedi Master Yoda. While Luke is struggling to learn to control the Force, Han Solo and Leia get into trouble when the bounty hunter Boba Fett captures them and takes them to the infamous Jabba the Hutt.
After Luke finds out Darth Vader’s true identity, he decides to turn to the bright side. Together with the Ewokers, the cute bear-like creatures on the planet Endor, the rebels with Leia and Han in the lead take up the fight to destroy the Death Star and thus the space empire.
The first film in the second generation of Star Wars movies, but which confusingly takes place in 32 years before first film (Episode IV). Political instability is beginning to spread in the galaxy. Queen Amidala is captured by the Federation, but is rescued along with the maid Padmé by a young Obi-Wan Kenobi and another Jedi knight named Qui-Gon Jinn. On the planet Tatooine, they meet a boy named Anakin Skywalker who Qui-Gon suspects is the chosen one, that is, the Jedi knight who will create balance in the Force.
The republic is in chaos. The sole aim of Count Dooku and his followers is to overthrow the republic. After Queen Padmé barely survived an assassination attempt, Chancellor Palpatine hired Obi-Wan and Anakin to protect her. Emotions soon sprout between the young Jedi apprentice and the queen, while they have to fight to survive with Obi-Wan, Mace Windu and Yoda.
The galaxy is now in a full-scale war, the Republic against Count Dooku and his clones. General Grievous kidnaps Chancellor Palpatine from the Republic and Anakin and Obi-Wan are sent to the rescue. At the same time, a split between the Jedi Order and the Chancellor begins to grow. Palpatine entices by saying that Anakin can save his beloved Padmé…
A decade after Episode III, the first movie in the third generation of Star Wars movies finally arrived. The Force Awakens takes place after the first three films, more specifically 30 years later. Leia still leads the Rebels, this time against The First Order, led by General Snoke and Kylo Ren. But one of their stormtroopers, Finn, refuses to carry out his order when he meets Rey, who turns out to have unimaginable powers. Together with the radar couple Han Solo and Chewbacca, they decide to destroy the order’s weapons of mass destruction.
In the latest Star Wars episode, the rebels are divided after the Order’s latest attack and new General Holdo does his best to keep those who remain alive. Finn does not agree with this passive tactic and sets off with his new companions Poe and Rose to save his friends. At the same time, Rey tries to persuade Luke Skywalker to teach her to master the power, which leads her on an emotionally demanding journey into herself, where she discovers that she has a strange connection to Kylo Ren. At the same time, Kylo himself begins to have his doubts about which side he is really on.
This animated film takes place between Episode II and III. Here we get to follow Anakin and Obi-Wan as they fight Count Dooku and General Grievous. We also get to meet Ahsoka Tano, who is Anakin’s own Jedi apprentice.
The first spin-off movie in the Star Wars series that is not part of the so-called Skywalker saga takes place just before Episode III. Jyn Erso is recruited by the Rebels to use her father, played by none other than Mads Mikkelsen, who designed the Death Star to get the drawings.
Who really was Han Solo before he became the charismatic Millennium Falcon pilot we know him as? In this film, we find out Han Solo’s background story, how he grew up as an orphan on the streets of Corella with his best friend Qi’ra, and then enlisted in the Empire’s fleet. We also get to know the untipped story of how He meets Chewbacca and how they get hold of their legendary spaceship. This movie takes place, as you may already suspect, between Episode III and IV.
