Microsoft is currently finalizing the next major update for Windows 10. The update, codenamed 20H2, has now been released to beta testers under the name “Windows 10 October 2020 Update”.
“We believe that version 19042.508 is the final version and we still plan to improve the experience of the October 2020 Update on users’ computers as part of our normal service,” writes Brandon LeBlanc, Microsoft’s senior program manager for Windows Insider, in a blog posts.
Microsoft’s major fall update focuses primarily on removing bugs and improving the performance of the operating system, but there are also a couple of new features.
Microsoft October 2020 Update is the first to come automatically with the new browser Edge based on Chromium. The user interface for the start menu also gets a slightly more stripped-down look and the key combination Alt + Tab now allows you to scroll both between open programs as well as tabs in Edge.
So far there is no date for when Windows 10 October 2020 Update will be released for standard users. The expectation is that it will start rolling out next month.
