Finally, Oculus has made the decision to open up the operating system to Oculus Go, which can provide a lot of opportunities now.
John Carmack, CTO of Oculus, has now announced that they have finally chosen to open up the operating system for Oculus Go, something that has long been in demand.
This in itself now means that Oculus Go can come into much greater use than it did today, it is always interesting to see in the future what kind of apps and programs Oculus Go will get.
At present we do not know exactly when the operating system will be open, we do not know at present, but we can hope that the wait will not be too long.
This opens up the ability to repurpose the hardware for more things today, and means that a randomly discovered shrink wrapped headset twenty years from now will be able to update to the final software version, long after over-the-air update servers have been shut down.
