Tim Cook responds to criticism of Apple Music

Reddit user “heyyoudvd”, or Dave B as he calls himself on Medium, has written an interesting posts about how he emailed Apple’s CEO Tim Cook – and got a response.

Dave B has been writing critical articles and commenting on Apple Music for several years, including several popular articles on Medium, and the email he sent to Tim Cook was a long summary of all his criticism of the app.

The critique is briefly about Music trying to be a middle ground between an app for users who want to organize, search among and filter in large music libraries and an app for those who want to get smart recommendations based on what they like, but fail. The app is neither as good for the previous group as iTunes was nor as good as Spotify is for the latter group.

To his surprise, Dave B received an email from one of Tim Cook’s assistants who wanted to arrange a conversation about the email and his criticism. During the phone call a couple of days later, she said that Tim Cook had read the email himself and had passed it on directly to the groups that develop Apple Music and the Music app, something that happens so rarely that she herself had not been with it before.

The assistant could not, for obvious reasons, promise anything, but said that Apple takes the criticism seriously and may introduce some of the changes Dave B proposed in his email.

The post has not been substantiated by any evidence and Dave B himself writes that it is up to the readers to believe the story or not, but this is not the first time emails to Apple’s CEO have received a response and we have heard before about people who have been emailed or called .
