the masquerade
Bloodhunt takes place in Vampire: The Masquerade-universe, where vampires exist among the living but swear not to reveal their true nature. Any superhuman or monstrous behavior will attract the attention of mortals. This means you have to be careful, as drinking blood in front of a deadly witness will trigger a blood hunt.
Generally, a Blood Hunt is started when a vampire breaks the rules of the Masquerade. That is, if they reveal their true nature to one or more mortals. This could include a mortal witnessing a feeding or the use of supernatural powers. In Prague, this blood hunt is only temporary. Survive, and the Blood Hunt will be called off.
Killing mortal civilians is also prohibited and will trigger a Blood Hunt. However, feel free to kill and suck up as many Entity soldiers as you can.
heightened senses
Vampires have enhanced senses that allow them to be more aware of their immediate surroundings.
Looking for a human with a specific type of Blood Resonance, or if there are weapons nearby? No problem! You can activate your heightened senses at any time to scan your surroundings and find the resources you need to survive the night.
It’s also useful for identifying vampires, should they try to pass themselves off as mortals.
Drink blood and blood resonance
Drinking blood is crucial to a vampire’s survival, but not all mortal blood is created equal. Depending on the mortal’s mood, his blood gives vampires unique boosts. This is called a blood resonance. In Bloodhunt, there are four types of blood resonance:
- Optimistic – This blood resonance has a pink aura and speeds up your healing.
- Choleric – This increases your melee damage, so be sure to stock up on this guy if you prefer to get up close and personal. You will recognize it by its orange aura.
- Phlegmatic – This resonance has a blue aura and reduces the cooldown of your Archetype Power.
- Melancholic – You will identify this blood resonance through its purple aura. Drinking this blood reduces the cooldown of your Clan Power.
Not all mortals have resonant blood. If a mortal doesn’t have a colored aura, he can still restore your health, but you won’t get any special boosts.
Also, when playing Bloodhunt mode, you may come across certain humans that grant you an extra life. You can only pick up this extra life if you have already lost a life. By default, you can only have one extra life at any given time.
Diablerie
When you are about to destroy the enemy vampires, you can choose to commit diablerie. Not only does this give them their final kill, but it also means you consume their soul by drinking their Blood.
Since this move requires you to get close and takes a bit of time, it could be a risky move. However, the XP gained and the extra Blood Resonance slot make this brutal finishing move well worth it.
Melee weapons with special abilities.
Some weapons in Bloodhunt have special abilities for you to learn and use. For example, the Katana can deflect bullets and Scourge Blades allow its users to perform a special dash attack. Learn to use these weapons to your advantage to surprise the enemy.
The Entity and find the best weapons
Bloodhunt has many weapons, but not all of them are of the same quality. Purple and gold weapons are best, but unfortunately, these are often found in areas heavily guarded by the Entity.
Familiarize yourself with where the Camarilla hideouts and Entity safes are that spawn these weapons, and fight or sneak past the Entity to get to them. They are well worth the effort and can mean the difference between no life and ultimate death in combat.
Either way, it’s always a good idea to kill as many monsters as you can…
And with that said, we think you’re now ready to rule the night. Until next time, see you at dawn!
