A month ago we wrote about Tomb Raider: 10th Anniversary, a Core Design-developed but ultimately discontinued Playstation Portable remake of the original Tomb Raider from 1996. And now it has turned out that the second has also received and is receiving corresponding treatment from the hobby developer Nicobass!
Tomb Raider: The Dagger of Xian is namely an Unreal Engine 4-based remake of Tomb Raider 2 (released in 1997), whose demo version you can download here. Recently launched version 1.2 includes a photo mode, a new costume and a whole range of graphic news, including new lighting, new water simulation and “adjustments of Lara’s body shape for something a little more realistic”. The project must also have received the modern ones Tomb Raiderdevelopers Crystal Dyanmic’s blessing, as long as it is not used to make money or the like.
Here is a six-month-old comparison video between Tomb Raider 2the original and the remake.
