Tomb Raider gets animated Netflix series, new director for the feature film sequel

Shadow of the Tomb Raider was released in 2018, and despite a brilliant reception by Jerry Fogselius (review), news of additional games has shone with its absence. However, Lara Croft fans will not have to go without a lot as there is both an animated Netflix series and a feature film sequel!

According to Hollywood Reporter will the animated series take over after the events of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Tasha Huo (also involved in The Witcher: Blood Origin) will act as screenwriter and producer.

The shooting star Alicia Vikander is not involved in the animated series, but will return in the role of Lara Croft in the sequel to the feature film from 2018, which has now got a new director (via Deadline) in the form of Misha Green (director of the HBO series Lovecraft Country). Green replaces former director Ben Wheatley for unknown reasons, but seems to be a good choice as she is a pronounced Tomb Raider-Damn. The Tomb Raider sequel was originally planned to hit theaters on March 19, 2021, but is apparently delayed for a while.
