Twitter announces now that they have been working on an editing function for twitter posts for the past year. The editing feature will be available to test for Twitter Blue users in the coming months. The test will be used to determine what works and what needs to be changed with the function.
In principle, since Twitter was launched, there have always been a large number of users who requested an editing function. Twitter’s management, however, has continued to oppose this, arguing that it could be misused to edit public conversations afterwards or change the content of widely circulated posts.
Twitter’s new bigwigs Elon Musk, which bought 9.2 percent of the company’s shares, recently conducted a poll among its followers on whether Twitter should add an edit button. 73.4 percent then answered that they were for it. Twitter’s CEO Parag Agrawal himself shared the survey and wrote that:
“The consequences of this study will be important. Please vote carefully.”
However, the official account of Twitter Comm writes in the announcement of the editing function that:
“No, we did not get the idea from a survey.”
