Time to face the truth.
Then we were here again. Finally! Destiny 2 enters its fourth year tonight with the release of Destiny 2: Beyond Light, the game’s third expansion that marks Bungies continued involvement in the space shuttle. Beyond Light, the first of a trilogy of expansions, takes us to Jupiter’s moon Europe to fight Eramis and learn more about the primordial forces of the universe, the Light and the Darkness.
In addition to the release of Beyond Light also kicks off a new season, Season of the Hunt, in which players take up the fight against an arming Hive goddess, Xivu Arath. We need to work with Osiris and Crow to stop her recruitment of ferocious warriors.

Synonymous with each annual expansion is also the battle for World First, a ritualistic competition in which players compete for who manages the new raid first! Deep Stone Crypt is this year’s target, a raid that is said to hide many dark secrets about Clovis Brays and his unethical research.
Deep Stone Crypt premieres on November 21 after the reset at 19:00. For the first 24 hours, the raid will activate Contest Mode. This is what Bungie says about Contest Mode for Deep Stone Crypt:
- Contest Mode will cap all players at 20 Power below each encounter for 24 hours.
- Artifact Power will be disabled during Contest Mode.
- 1230 Power is your team’s goal to be at the cap for all the encounters.
- Being above 1230 will note provide any additional advantage in the final fight.
The first group to defeat the raid receives not only this year’s bragging rights but also unique master belts as eternal proof! Bungie will monitor the game that night and then evaluate the winners – to determine if the win was honestly received. Cheating is filthy!
Next generation Destiny
Destiny 2 takes the step into a new generation it December 8 with a free update to Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X / S that not only increases the screen update to 60 frames per second (!) but also makes it possible to play Destiny 2 in 4k resolution (but not on Series S).
Destiny 2 supports next gen backward compatibility so you will be able to pick up Destiny 2 when you get a new console without having to buy a new edition of the game (provided you stay within the same console family). Xbox Game Pass also has the advantage for new and returning players that it provides access to both previous expansions The cause and Shadowkeep.
